Happy 4th of July

So the 4th of July is like Christmas to my husband. He was so excited during the whole weekend that he hardly slept. Needless to say, this holiday is a big thing for us.

We started out the holiday with Fireworks at Granite High School on the 3rd. This is a family tradition on my side that we have done for as long as I can remember. It's fun to do the same things with my kids. Except it is a bigger production then what it was when I was little. Now they have lots of booths, blow up bouncy stuff for the kids, carnival games, etc. We got there about 5:00 (even though it didn't start until 6:00) to stake out our spot for the fireworks. After everything was set up, we walked around, got dinner, and just had a good time.

The day of the fourth, we woke up early to stake out our spot for the Magna Parade. I was surprised at how many people were already there. We showed up to put our chairs out at 7:00 AM and the parade didn't start until 12:30 PM. We were barely able to save a big enough spot for everyone.
Here is Kaylee and Mason staking their claim. They stayed on those blankets until everyone else got there.

Here is the whole gang!

This picture makes me smile. Mason was so cute waving at everyone.

Mason wasn't too sure about slapping the cops hand when they came by on the motorcycles. Tracy held Mason up so he could slap the cop's hand and Mason seriously freaked out. One of these days!

This next picture was taken a couple of days before the 4th. Mason didn't like the loud noises of the fireworks so we were trying to get him use to the sound. Here he is smashing the SNAPS with a hammer. He didn't like to step on them and couldn't throw them hard enough for them to snap. I guess he improvised.

He obviously got over his scare of fireworks. He did like the sparklers and the fountains. Jeramy actually got him to light off his Train Firework.

Here Mason and Jeramy are lighting off a Dragon. And, yes, those are earplugs Mason is wearing.

Here are my sparkler kids. Mason actually did the two sparkler thing. I'm impressed!

Okay, here is our first, and probably last, time of doing the 3 foot sparklers. As Mason was swinging his around a spark fell off and landed on his head. I rushed and got ice to put on his head where it got him. It singed his hair pretty good and left a gray mark on his scalp. Luckily it didn't burn him like I was afraid of at first. It was a big, black spot on his head until we scraped the burnt hair off.

All in all, it was a great holiday weekend. We hope everyone else had a great holiday weekend as well.
